Shola Ama

Shola Ama is an R&B legend most notable for her iconic 1997 track 'You Might Need Somebody', which reached no. 4 on the UK Singles chart and stayed in the top 40 for almost two months!

Her career started very young when she was heard singing to herself at Hammersmith station in London by a producer, from which she released her single 'Celebrate'. This wasn't a commercial success by any stretch but it did get her spotted as an artist and led to her being signed by Warner Music Group.

In 1996 she released the brilliant 'You're the one I Love' but it was her second single 'You Might Need Somebody', a year later that gave her her biggest success. She then released her debut album 'Much Love' featuring both these hits which led to her winning a Brit Award for Best British Female and two MOBO Awards for Best Newcomer and Best R&B Act.

Since then Shola has released several albums including 'In Return', 'Supersonic' and 'Surreal'.
